Events 2020

The Core Committee meetings are held at least once a month where ideas are shared and events are planned; but since the pandemic, the team has been able to only meet virtually. However, the pandemic has not stopped the OBA from conducting events and switching to the new normal. Since inception the below events and activities were conducted by the SJPUC OBA.

Under the leadership of Roger Doss President of SJPUC OBA, the team of 7 has organized several events and despite the pandemic, the team has been actively working towards a common goal which is to keep the OBA of SJPUC connected to it’s Alma Mater.

Covid-19 Relief Fund

As the first event, the OBA Team of SJPUC sprung into action and organized a fund raiser to aid the people who were financially affected due to the pandemic. An amount of INR. 70,000 was successfully raised and this fund was used to provision the needs of migrant workers in the form of daily essentials. A campaign was run on the Instagram page of official SJPUC OBA requesting for donations and in a matter of a few days the funds were collected and handed over to the Principal Fr. Melvin Lobo SJ.

Spotlight

The SJPUC OBA teems with Extra-Ordinary Achievers who went against the odds to achieve exceptional feats. It was about time we brought them into the spotlight to tell their stories and inspire us all. Spotlight was an Instagram event which featured some of our high achieving old boys who shared their success stories and answered some of our hilarious questions.

Intercollegiate Carol Singing Competition with a difference titled “Christmas Bash”

With Christmas being just around the corner and the pandemic being the centre of attraction for most of 2020, the OBA of SJPUC wanted to do something different this Christmas to spread the message of joy, peace, cheer and more importantly HOPE to everyone around and make this a Very Merry Christmas, not only for the Josephite family but for everyone associated with St. Josephs’ as well.

Hence, for the very first time, the SJPUC OBA hosted a one of a kind *Virtual Inter Collegiate Carol Singing Competition*, where each participating choir had to select a charitable organization of their choice. These choirs were a collaboration between students and teachers and the participating choirs were competing for their respective charities to win the grand prize! Resonating with the Christmas ‘Spirit of Giving’, There were eight colleges that participated in this event, the names being below and each of the choirs sent in videos of carols being sung.

  1. St Claret Pre University College
  2. Joseph’s Pre – University College.
  3. St Joseph’s Indian Composite PU College
  4. Christ Junior College
  5. Joseph’s PU Evening College
  6. Christ Academy
  7. Mount Carmel College
  8. Joseph’s Boys’ High School

The SJPUC OBA was proud to organize this special Christmas Bash which was streamed on YouTube on 19th December, 2020 at 7:30 PM.
