I am profoundly honoured by the opportunity to serve as the President of our OBA (Old Boys’ Association) for the next few years. As I greet you for the first time as your OBA President, there are a million things going through my head: What impact and legacy do I want to leave on as the President of the OBA?  Most importantly, how do I build upon our plans to drive Greater Engagement from OBA to build bigger circles, a community of tighter connections and bringing about the sense of togetherness and oneness.

The only way to lead a successful OBA is to engage YOUR help – the 25,000+ strong alumni of SJPUC.  We want to ENTICE you with all the great events and experiences taking place on campus (whenever it opens) and beyond, REMIND you of your glory days as you reminisce your time as a student and ENGAGE you with the students, faculty, and volunteers that make up our SJPUC Family.  We need you to be successful.  We need you to perpetuate the pride that sits deep in your hearts.  We need you as role models to the Class of 2019/20 – our newest alumni – and to be the compass and guide that ensures future Explorers are Never Lost.

As you chart your course of engagement, start with these simple activities that inspire your pride and build our community

• Wear It Out – Proudly show off your SJPUC apparel wherever you are!
• Talk It Up – Share your SJPUC experience with prospective students, parents and fellow alums! Be a SJPUC Ambassador!
• Explore It All – Attend alumni events, engage, be an active member!
• Get Involved – Give us ideas of how we can give back, form clubs, groups we have the horizon and more to look at

The best way to stay connected is to be informed of all the alumni events at SJPUC through the upcoming website and social media.  Follow SJPUC on the major channels (Instagram sjpuc_officialoba or the Website) or stay connected through me or any other Committee members.  We promise to promote your successes and ensure you are aware and included in every event.  Moreover, we welcome your feedback and guidance as we plan our engagement strategy for the years ahead.

At the same time, I would challenge you to think of ways you can give back to SJPUC to whatever degree you are comfortable. And I do not mean just monetarily, though that is, of course, always welcome. There are many ways to give back, from career and academic mentoring to volunteering time at on- and off-campus events to simply attending academic and social events. And let’s not forget athletics. Rooting for the Blazing Blues in whatever sports appeal to you is always a fun and exciting time and a great way to connect and reconnect with old friends. As you will find, giving back has another benefit: it feels good.

Hence, I request all our past and present students, to help me build this OBA taking it to greater heights and let’s strive together to make this a success bringing all our old students together forming a chain that is undividable and a bond unbreakable.
